Dr Lesley D’Costa
Osteopath B.App.Sc(Osteo),M.Osteo
Dr Lesley D’Costa is the principal Osteopath at Blue Mountains Osteo.
Lesley always knew she wanted to be in a profession where she could help people reduce pain and suffering. While doing observations at numerous pain clinics during her first degree in exercise science, Lesley was very impressed by the life changing results patients were getting with their Osteopath. Lesley fell in love with the profession immediately. She began her 5 year university training and thrived, earning distinction honours and a Deans medal in 2005, all the while gaining clinical experience working as an assistant in two Western Sydney practices.
Upon graduating a Masters of Osteopathy in 2007, Lesley began practising in Faulconbridge. Lesley’s love for the Blue Mountains and its people made her, together with husband Alan, want a more long term commitment to the lower mountains community. Their dreams became reality when they opened their very own warm and inviting, professional clinic in Blaxland in 2017.
Lesley enjoys treating a wide range of musculoskeletal complaints. Her strong interest in functional anatomy and biomechanics and her understanding of pain allows Lesley to effectively diagnose and treat the underlying problem. She enjoys working one on one with her patients, providing them with the best management plan and loves empowering her patients to achieve their best possible outcomes.
Lesley strongly believes in up to date knowledge and has thus done further studies in tendon rehabilitation, pelvic pain and BBPV (a common form of vertigo) to name a few, and has widened her skill base by learning dry needling which she finds very effective alongside her osteopathic treatment regime.
When not working, Lesley loves spending time with her family and friends. She loves food, travel, dogs, and pottering in the garden.
