Dr Alan Sardelich
Osteopath B.Exsc, B.App.Sc(Osteo),M.Osteo
Alan’s long journey into healthcare began in 1999 when he started his first degree in Exercise Science. Here he was exposed to many facets of the healthcare system, and it was during this time that he knew that pain and injury management was the profession he desired to be in. After countless hours of work experience and observation in pain management clinics, coupled with a growing love of anatomy and biomechanics, Alan decided he was going to become an Osteopath. In 2003 Alan began his 5 year degree in Osteopathy. This time Alan found his passion, completing both the bachelor and Masters degrees with distinction honours, recipient of two Dean’s medals, and was awarded the highest GPA across all the health science degrees at Western Sydney University.
Prior to completing his Masters in 2007 he was lecturing and tutoring clinical anatomy across the numerous health degrees at Western Sydney University. Since then he has worked across multiple clinics in Sydney, most recently sharing his time between his own practices in Blaxland and Chatswood. Over a 10 year clinical career Alan has completed additional training in joint manipulation, tendon rehabilitation, pelvic and pregnancy related pain to name a few. Continued professional development is a cornerstone of healthcare, Alan vows to never stop learning and is driven by a desire to keep improving as a clinician. Alan works with an extremely diverse range of patient types, and although his early Osteopathy career was predominantly concentrated with elite athletes, dancers and performers, he now spends his clinical time assisting patients of all ages and types.
Alan has a strong clinical focus towards evidence based practice, meaning all his patients get a specific diagnosis, treatment and management plan that aligns best with what all the science based literature teaches us. Alan believes in educating and empowering his patients on how best to understand their problem so that they can control their outcome more effectively. Alan uses a wide range of manual therapy techniques, prescribes strength and stretching exercises, gives behaviour advice, and educates his patients so that they have a good understanding of what the problem may be, why they have it and how it will resolve.
Alan has fallen in love with the Blue Mountains community. When he is not in clinic you might catch him playing soccer for the mighty Blue Mountains FC, at the gym, or out and about enjoying all the wonderful wildlife that the Blue Mountains has to offer.
